Dr. Fitzgerald comes to us from the New York University Medical Center. He did his M.S. in Audiology at Vanderbilt and practiced as an audiologist at the Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit with Gary Jacobson. He then went to Northwestern for his PhD where he worked with Bev Wright investigating auditory perceptual learning. After that he moved to NYU to do a post-doc with Mario Svirsky at the NYU School of Medicine, and was promoted to the faculty in 2010. His research focuses on ways to better custom-fit the implant to individual patients with the goal of helping them to adapt to the device more quickly.
Dr. Fitzgerald's talk, entitled "Customized fitting and assessment procedures for recipients of cochlear implants", was given on October 23, 2012 at 11:00AM in Morrill Hall Room 1101.
