State Licensure

The UMD Hearing and Speech Sciences Department’s MA degree program in Speech-Language Pathology and Doctoral degree (Au.D.) program in Clinical Audiology residential are accredited by the Council on Academic Accreditation (CAA), a semi-autonomous organization of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA).  Both of these graduate clinical programs meet licensing requirements in the state of Maryland. In compliance with US Department of Education requirements for professional licensure disclosure (Information and Disclosures, Title 4, Department of Education, 34 CFR 668.43), please refer to this fact sheet and tables for information about how UMD HESP graduate clinical programs satisfy the educational requirements for licensure in each state (information current as of July 2021):
