Kristin Slawson

Clinical Assistant Professor

Kristin Kay Slawson, M.A., CCC-SLP is an Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Hearing and Speech Sciences at the University of Maryland at College Park. As a certified brain injury specialist, she is particularly interested in the functional impact of traumatic brain injury on cognitive-linguistic abilities and implications of these changes on return to school and work. Her interests also include identifying and overcoming barriers to individual social engagement, which includes vocal training for transgender clients and communication partner training for people with aphasia. Prior to joining the HESP faculty, she worked in a variety of medically-based therapy settings treating patients with speech, language and cognitive-linguistic and voice disorders related mainly to neurological disorders such as stroke and brain injury.
